Writer says she doesn't read erotic fiction
It may have famously been inspired by Twilight fan fiction but it seems the teen vampire novel's author Stephenie Meyer is not a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey.
In fact, Meyer thinks the erotic bestseller is 'too smutty'.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, committed mormon Meyer said: 'Erotica is not something I read. I don't even read traditional romance. It's too smutty. There's a reason why my books have a lot of innocence.'
She also told the newspaper that her series has been accused of being 'abstinence porn', lacking any pre-marital sex, but said she wasn't intending to put across this message.
However she said it was reflective of her own life, with her idea of love being 'different than what a lot of other people do.'
'There's nothing selfish about true love. It's not about what you want. It's about what makes them happy' she added.
