Sales of tights soar as temperatures plummet
As the big-freeze sets in, M&S has reported selling a record-breaking four packs of tights a second!

As the big-freeze sets in, M&S has reported selling a record-breaking four packs of tights a second!
Thanks to freezing temperatures and our new-found love for patterned pins, sales of tights have reached record-breaking new levels.
Marks & Spencer has reported selling an incredible four pairs of tights per second last week, as women nationwide rushed to snap up more of the leg warmers in light of the snowy weather.
Plus, thanks to the likes of Fearne Cotton, Taylor Momsen and Cheryl Cole, the trend for statement hosiery has never been bigger - so it's little surprise that thousands of pairs of woolly, lacy and stripy tights are flying off the shelves.
But it's not only fashion tights that are proving popular - according to M&S, sales of trusty black opaques sold at a rate of 44 pairs a minute.
And, here's a nifty fact: If you laid all these tights out end to end, they would reach from London to Paris!
Wow. That's a lot of legwork ladies...
