Poppy Delevingne, Georgia May Jagger, Karen Elson and Dree Hemingway were among the all-star, supermodel names who stretched their legs on the runway at Giles Deacon’s LFW show this evening, swapping their ringside seats for the stage itself in the rarest of rare catwalk line-ups.
In a stunning offering of dramatically ruffled and tiered gowns (Erin O’Connor looked positively swan-like) the roll call read like a who’s who of supermodels past and present – everyone from Bella Hadid to Eva Herzigova joined Giles' runway party.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a lot of these models on the catwalk, but with good reason. In this age of celebrity brand power, there’s simply no point doing the (literal) leg work once you’ve made it to the top.
‘I never thought I’d see Poppy Delevingne walk again,’ one editor was overheard saying post-show. But really, why would Pops bother? She’s got commercial deals, VIP perks and mega-star contracts coming out of her ears.
Such is the power of the modern supermodel that we recently learned they can earn over £200 per step on the runway. And with fees like that, it's no wonder that they only want to model the prettiest frocks.
