Jennifer Lopez is our new inspiration for this extreme cold snap, when all we want to do is put on woolly layers and jeans...
As the temperatures have dropped, so has our style guard. When it’s dark and frosty in the mornings, it’s hard to imagine stepping outside in anything less than a parka, knit and boots. But that’s getting boring and we’ve been looking for new inspiration to get us through the last of the winter.
Step up Jennifer Lopez, who has been showing us all how to retain a sense of style and stay warm, even in baltic conditions. First up, the singer and actress walked out in New York City in this elegant grey coat, fur stole and killer heels (note the bare legs – only the very brave and chauffeur driven can work this look in January). The grey is a welcome departure from black and still looks classic and on trend.
But our favourite look has to be this striking, all-pink faux fur and palazzo pant number, which fully proves that winter dressing can be fun. Not a hint of black, a sniff of wool or a touch of heavy duty denim in sight and J-Lo still looks warm and cosy and, most importantly, stylish.
This look has inspired us to cast off the chunky knits, discard the black coat and pick up something far more interesting. Channel your own Jennifer Lopez moment with one of these beautiful faux fur coats…
Shrimps Dulcie Coat, £595.
The original coloured faux fur brand, Shrimps has made outerwear fun again for the current season. Inspired by the breton stripe, this playful coat will lift an entire wardrobe of blacks and greys in an instant.
We fell in love with their lilac version at the beginning of the season, but now we’re coveting this nude version. Like a little bit of sunshine on a winter’s day, this is the perfect cover-up for any occasion, day or night.
Go all out on your J-Lo look and opt for a pink faux fur in a slightly longer length. This Unreal Fur version is the best choice to team with all of your winter separates and see you through the rest of the season in style.
