E.L. James has announced a sequel to the Fifty Shades Trilogy, but this time it tells Christian’s story.
The record-breaking Fifty Shades trilogy is soon to add to its number, as E.L. James announces a sequel.
The book, entitled simply: Grey, will tell the story from Christian’s perspective. So, for those of you who quietly devoured the first three books but squirm at the thought of Anastasia’s ‘inner goddess’ doing back flips with joy, this is the one for you.
The author announced the news on Twitter, telling followers that the book is due to be released on the 18th June (don’t pretend you didn’t just pencil that in), which is also Christian Grey’s birthday.
James has dedicated the book to ‘those readers who asked…and asked…and asked…and asked for this.’ It seems she’s got herself some persistent fans.
We are certainly curious to know more about why Christian has such…specific…sexual requirements, so hopefully the book will answer a few of our many burning questions.
‘Christian is a complex character’, said James (we’ll say). ‘Readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past.’

James’ editor at Vintage Books, Anne Messitte has commented that: ‘Fifty Shades of Grey is a love story that has enthralled readers in a way that few books have.’
‘This book has all the compelling attributes of its predecessors, and I can’t wait for Fifty Shades fans to experience the work again from a perspective they have long desired,’ Messitte told the Hollywood Reporter.
‘It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place- writing’, said James.
And we’re sure many of you look forward to a return to the infamous Red Room of Pain.
The second film, Fifty Shades Darker, is due for release in 2017.
