While Jennifer Garner’s ex-husband Ben Affleck has been publicly dating SNL producer Lindsay Shookus since July, it seems Jen herself is less than eager to dip a toe back into the dating pool.
‘I haven’t been on a date and I am not interested in dating. People want to set me up and I am just like, “No thank you!”’ the actress told news.com.au.
That being said, she’s not super keen on being single either. ‘I would not have chosen this life for myself or for my kids. I would not choose to be single or be in this position,’ she explained. ‘It’s something that we are working through.’
Although dating is hardly a top priority, the mother of three still finds herself confronted by themes from her romantic past, as with her upcoming film The Tribes of Palos Verdes, in which she plays a woman whose husband has been unfaithful.
Garner, 45, told the site that her performance acted as something of an emotional release. ‘Was it cathartic [to play this role]? Yes it was, actually,’ she said. ‘I didn’t know that it would be, but it was. I know I need to work through some things. Of course, it was a really emotional performance and that made me nervous because I felt like people would say, “Oh, she’s just playing out [her feelings].” But you can believe what you want to believe.’
Despite any past fallout with Ben Affleck, Garner’s keeping the holidays familial — something she claims comes naturally. ‘We will all be together for Thanksgiving,’ she stated. ‘I love Ben. We will be together with our kids and give them a special Christmas. We get along really well and it’s not an issue. We are friends; we can manage it.’
