Katy Perry revealed her new 'accidental' hair hue for the very first time yesterday - debuting a mop of strawberry blonde curls.

The singer - who was promoting her new perfume in Canada - Tweeted to her millions of fans en route, 'On my way to launch PURR in TORONTO! P.s. If u see a ginger haired girl that looks like me, it's me!'

Ms Perry's latest look could be considered a work in progress - as a natural blonde, she's attempting to get back to her original shade, after years of dying it jet black.

To return to her roots, she's had to colour her hair in two stages, she explained via Twitter: 'So I didn't get to the exact color (sic) I wanted from being black for so long! 2get to goal I have 2b GINGER for 3WKS.'

She added: 'If I don't wait 3wks, I'll end up w/no hair or a #pixie90scutw/abarretteinthefront It's okay, I'll get to my secret color(s) soon! #patience.'
