Starting a gourmet chocolate shop, launching an internet company, becoming an event planner- these are the sorts of businesses may of us dream of creating one day, although rarely get round to making a reality.
That could be changing, though; in 2011 there was a 12 per cent increase in female-run start-ups. Plus women account for 37 per cent of all new businesses in the UK - and numbers are continuing to grow.
It was with these rousing statistics in mind that we decided to focus Marie Claire’s 2012 Inspire & Mentor campaign, in association with The Prince's Trust, on women wanting to make their business dream come true.
This year, we’ve enlisted some of the country’s most successful power players and brightest business gurus from the worlds of fashion, beauty, retail and social media to share the secrets of their success and become Marie Claire mentors.
