After leaving the White House this January, you may have thought Barack Obama would want to go as far from Washington as possible - because, now, BO, you're free! Go fly.

But the perfect parents that they seem to be, the Obamas decided to stay nearby until their youngest daughter Sasha finishes school there.

(Well, at least Barack Obama had a pretty kickass post-Presidential holiday).

So, the Obamas moved into their new home earlier this year and it sounds like they might be staying longer than they initially thought as they just bought the rented property for a hefty £6.2 million.

Based in the Kalorama neighbourhood (where Ivanka Trump and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos already live), the house was previously occupied by Joe Lockhart who was Bill Clinton's former press secretary.

Obama's spokesperson Kevin Lewis told The Post: 'Given that former President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property.'

The house has eight bedrooms and nine (and a half) bathrooms and was originally build in 1921. The property is the Obamas' second home after their Georgian house in the South Side of Chicago - where Michelle and Barack originally met.
