You might think that Hollywood men have it easy when it comes to dating, and that would be a fair assumption: they’ve got the looks, the money and the fact that quite literally everyone wants to date them.

But as these A-listers prove, it doesn’t matter how many Nicholas Sparks films you star in or how many Grammys you’ve won, no one is immune to the struggle of asking a girl out and the paralyzing fear of rejection that accompanies it.

Here are 15 honest quotes about dating from some of our favourite Hollywood men…

1. Leonardo DiCaprio ‘I’ve never been Romeo who meets a girl and falls for her immediately. It’s been a much slower process for me each time I’ve gone into a relationship.’

2. Zac Efron ‘Dating is kind of hard, like dinner or something like that. Like a forced awkward situation is very strange - especially for me, for some reason.’

3. Channing Tatum ‘I don't think there's a date minimum or maximum. I don't get the whole “All right, you've got to wait three days to call after the date.” If I got a number from a girl, I'd call that night. There's no science to it for me. You just do what it is that you feel like doing.’

4. Jake Gyllenhaal ‘When you ask a woman for a date sometimes that does feel like you have to run through a mine field. It's just important for me to immediately feel comfortable with a woman.’

5. Jamie Dornan ‘The idea of being single makes me instantly sweat.’

6. Dave Franco ‘When I’m dating someone, if she bonds with my cats I’ll give her a chance maybe more than I would otherwise. But if she doesn’t like my cats it’s kind of a deal breaker.’

7. Bradley Cooper ‘When I’m into a woman, I literally can’t stop staring. I’m like a little kid, I become completely entranced.’

8. Harry Styles ‘I still get so nervous talking to girls. I'm quite old-fashioned. I like going out to dinner. You have the chance to talk to somebody and get to know them better.’

9. Justin Timberlake ‘There is a thing called chivalry and it doesn't have to die with the birth of the Internet... I had to be pretty persistent in order to get [Jessica] to say yes. But I have a fair amount of tenacity and if I want something I stick to it. And in the end she agreed.’

10. Tom Hiddleston ‘I think if you’re going to be conventionally romantic you’ve got to go all the way: a beautiful dinner somewhere lovely, with boat-loads of flowers, chocolates and champagne. But it might also be nice to wrap up warm and sit on a roof somewhere, with a cup of hot soup and your girl, watch the planes come in over London and listen to the night.’

11. Drake ‘If you happen to be with somebody who isn't someone you want to converse with, you start feeling like, I wish I was just here watching True Blood by myself.’

12. Michael Kors ‘I had a blind date with someone once. We went to a swanky Italian restaurant, and he showed up wearing cutoffs. I was like, “Maybe this isn't going to work.”’

13. Ryan Reynolds ‘We were buddies for a long time - I think the best way to have a relationship is to start as friends.’

14. Justin Bieber ‘My first date has been sort of mythologized as “Bieber’s Dating Disaster.” I took her to King’s, a buffet restaurant. Yes, I wore a white shirt. Yes, I got spaghetti. No, this was not the brightest idea. But it wasn’t a big trauma though.’

15. Orlando Bloom ‘As a kid, I would fall in love on the Tube. I’d see a woman and have that moment of, “Am I going to speak to her?” I’m not that smooth, to a stranger, I’d just say, “this sounds crazy, but would you like to grab a coffee? I want to talk to you”. It was occasionally successful, but I definitely got the odd knock-back.’
