These are the two accessories to steal from Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton this week

This week saw not one, but two royal outings. First, the Duchess of Cambridge went to Dundee with Prince William on Wednesday.

She fittingly wore a tartan coat by Alexander McQueen, one of her favourite labels, and of course the one behind her famous wedding dress.

Kate kept things tonal with a green scarf, but it was her handbag that caught our eye. First off, we've not seen it on her before, and secondly, it's by uber-cool bag brand Manu Atelier (SJP is a fan), and a bit of a cool departure for Kate. We predict it's going to be next season's new cult bag.

Then, yesterday, the Duchess of Sussex visited the National Theatre in London, as she was announced as their Patron earlier this month.

For her first official visit in this role, she opted for head-to-toe blush, a colour that's very on trend for SS19. In fact, the Brandon Maxwell dress and coat were straight off the runway.

She accessorised with a clutch bag by Caroline Herrera, and we're very into her suede Aquazzura court shoes which she seems to love so much she's worn them several times, including to announce her engagement to Prince Harry. They certainly go with everything, so they might be worth investing in.

Penny Goldstone

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
