North West: Chronicles of a 3-foot style icon

    While most ordinary 2-year-olds are busy bombing around in Next trousers and a breton top stained with raspberry yoghurt, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has a wardrobe stuffed with miniature high fashion looks that would give even the most seasoned fashion-loving adult a run for their money.

    North West’s magnificent wardrobe already features bespoke Givenchy couture – gifted by Riccardo Tisci himself of course – Ralph Lauren bomber jackets (also sent direct from Ralph with a special note, naturally) and miniature white Balmain blazers with gold buttons similar to those loved by her mother. And the colour palette? Anything which adheres to the Harper Beckham School Of Neutrals – greys, khakis, whites, creams, as well as a few head-to-toe black ensembles which make her look a bit like a tiny stage hand.
    Kim and Kanye’s daughter has even inspired the creation of a high fashion kidswear range. Earlier this year Balmain creative director and good friend of the Kardashian family, Olivier Rousteing, announced plans to create his very first range of children’s clothing for the French fashion house. His inspiration? Yep, you’ve guessed it, North West herself.

    And little wonder really, when outings of North dressed up to the nines have helped drive a massive wider trend for luxury kidswear, which became a billion dollar industry last year.
    Whether North herself grows up to be a big noise in the fashion world, or decides to shun the limelight, remains to be seen. But ultimately – in the here and now – we’re guessing that like most 2-year-olds she probably doesn’t really give a monkeys what she’s dressed in.
