Remember these sell-out Topshop items?
EVERYONE had the fluro trousers
EVERYONE had the fluro trousers
Our love affair with the high street and fast fashion is a beautiful thing isn't it? It brings back all sorts of lovely memories when you think about it, like that Zara shopper bag everyone was wearing in 2012, or the M&S pink coat we all bought back in 2013.
And of course, we can't talk high street without mentioning the fashion mecca that is Topshop. Ever since launching in the 60s, we've been parting with our hard-earned pocket money and pay checks (ok probably since the 90s, we're not that old), to buy just a little something to wear at the weekend. You know, a nice top, heels, or a fabulous party dress.
Us mere mortals aren't the only ones who love a bit of Toppers either, celebrities are all over it, which explains how so many items sold out before we could get our hands on it.
You'll remember Kate Moss' 2008 collaboration, with the swallow print tea dress and the sheer tiger cut-out LBD - and the leopard print coat everyone from Alexa Chung to Jennifer Lawrence wore in 2014.
Obviously, anything Olivia Palermo wears turns to gold, so the fluro trousers and bomber jacket she donned for Fashion Week in 2013 and 2016 both sold out pretty much instantly.
Mums might also have dashed to the shops after spotting Kate Middleton in her maternity polka dot dress in the summer of 2013, though the smock dress she wore on her Royal tour in 2016 was super popular too.

Alexa Chung (sensing a theme here) wore this dress to the AW15 Topshop Unique show and it sold out in a matter of days.
Reversible bomber jacket, 2016
Olivia Palermo wore this jacket to Paris Fashion Week 2016, and naturally it sold out as a result.
Embroidered smock dress, 2016
In a bold move, the Duchess of Cambridge wore this embroidered number during her Royal tour in 2016, and we’ll let you guess how long it took for it to fly off the shelves after that.
Vinyl trench coat, 2017
This super cool trench coat sold out in a matter of weeks, but if you didn’t manage to get your hands on it, fret not, it’s due to be re-stocked soon.
Polka dot blouse, 2017
This polka dot blouse went down a storm on Instagram, and hardly a day goes by where we don’t see a fashion influencer sporting it. Ah, the power of social media.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.
Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
