Everyone’s talking about this big mistake made by Donald Trump over Easter weekend
Oh Donald…
Oh Donald…
Donald Trump is no stranger to public blunders, seemingly never missing an opportunity to embarrass himself, especially when it comes to Twitter. There was the time he branded Meryl Streep ‘underrated’, wished his ‘enemies’ a happy new year, tweeted the wrong ‘Ivanka’ by mistake and of course the many times he has weighed in on Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s break up.
During the Easter weekend, however, he found himself making a very public mistake at one of the most publicised events in his social calendar: the Easter Egg Roll – and unusually, it had absolutely nothing to do with either his Twitter account or one of his controversial Donald Trump quotes.
The President and his wife hosted the White House’s 139th annual Easter Egg Roll on Bank Holiday Monday, a tradition dating back to 1878 and organised by First Lady Melania Trump.
Fulfilling her First Lady duties, Melania welcomed thousands to the White House South Lawn, where she read to children, helped them to colour and of course judged the famous egg rolling competition.
Her main job, however, seemed to be keeping her husband in check.
While standing on the Truman balcony, accompanied by Melania, their 11-year-old son Barron and a large white rabbit, Donald forgot to put his hand on his heart during the National Anthem.

According to the US Flag Code, citizens are obliged to put their right hand over their hearts during the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem – something that the Leader of the Free World probably should have known.
Melania had to give her husband a very obvious nudge to remind him to put his hand over his heart, something he did hastily, but unfortunately for Trump, the not so subtle gesture was caught on camera and turned into many-an internet meme over night.
‘As we renew this tradition, thank you for joining us on behalf of the President and Barron,’ stated Melania, addressing the crowd from the Truman balcony. ‘We wish you great fun, and a beautiful day is coming ahead of us.’

‘I just want to thank First Lady Melania Trump,' Trump followed. 'She worked really hard on this. She has been working on this for a long time to make it perfect.’
Trump’s sons Donald Jr and Eric were both in attendance, as was the President’s youngest daughter Tiffany. His eldest daughter and now Assistant to the President, Ivanka, and her husband Jared Kushner, however, were absent from the occasion – probably decorating their new West Wing offices.
