The show could have looked *entirely* different
With news that the Game Of Thrones cast earn more money than anyone else in TV history (yes, we’re talking more than a million pounds per episode for Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), it’s no surprise that the almost stars of the show have been revealed.
Yes, we know you’re excited for Game of Thrones‘ next season especially as Ed Sheeran might join the Game of Thrones stars and give Sansa a run for her redheaded money – but we’re talking about the actors who could have changed the GoT game completely.
It’s hard to think of anyone but Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington as Daenerys and Jon Snow but here’s some food for thought.
Alternative Game of Thrones cast
Gillian Anderson as Cersei Lannister
The Fall star hinted that she said no to a GoT role and the internet assumed it was for Lannister.
Dominic West as Mance Rayder
The Wire actor said he was offered a part back in 2012 but was reluctant to join another series and be away from his family for so long.
Tamzin Merchant as Daenerys Targaryen
The Mother of Dragons was originally Tamzin back in the pilot but changed after HBO decided they wanted to go with someone else.
Jennifer Ehle as Catelyn Stark
Another actress who was in the original pilot before they went with Michelle Fairley.
Lily Allen as Yara Greyjoy
This would have meant the singer would have been playing opposite her actual brother.
Sam Claflin as Jon Snow
He didn’t technically get offered the part but he did audition for it.
Danny Dyer as Pypar
The Eastenders star has said the show rejected him three times – but at least he found a home at the Queen Vic, eh?
Izzy Meikle-Small as Sansa Stark
The Never Let Me Go star very almost got the role apparently, before it went to Sophie Turner.
