On day two of the Marie Claire beauty team's trip to the Maldives, we tackle frizzy hair.

The beauty team spent their second day at the Sun Siyam Resort on the beautiful island of Iru Fushi trekking around in search of potential shoot locations. But, as we hadn't quite acclimatised to the tropical weather, we were having all kinds of hair frizzing problems. Luckily, our hair stylist, Gow Tanaka, was on hand to help us tame the mane with his top styling tips.

1. The key is to feed the hair, so, after a morning shower, spray in some leave-in conditioner. Something like the Paul Mitchell Strength Super Strong Liquid Treatment, £17.75. Do this just before styling when the hair is wet. This closes the wisps for sleek lengths. Use your conditioner with fresh water if you dont have a specific spray. We love Kerastase's Bain Conditioner, £13.60.

2. Use water-based hair milk because it gives weight and shine to hair to stop it frizzing outwards.

3. Healthy hair won't frizz. So use a serum that contains keratin as the protein nourishes deep into the hair follicles. Never coat the hair in hairspray as this is only a very short term solution and will make hair more brittle. For really damaged hair try Bumble and Bumble's Mending Complex, £29.
