Diane von Furstenberg gets handy at interior design
By Rachel Holmes on Thursday 4 March 2010
The multi-talented Diane von Furstenberg will design a series of rooms at Claridge's hotel.
The project at Claridge's will be the first time that the fashion veteran will turn her hand to interior design and we can't wait to see the results.
In June this year you'll be able to head to Claridge's to see if you can spot Furstenberg's signature style. As a long time guest and friend of the Art Deco jewel in Mayfair, she will bring her iconic prints and bold colours as well as original pieces of furniture to a series of rooms and suites.
Claridge's and Diane von Furstenberg have enjoyed an intimate relationship since the 1970s. She was even inspired by the hotel when creating some of her past collections: 'One of my fondest memories was when I was in London as a young, independent businesswoman and stayed at Claridge's. I knew I had made it.'
For Furstenberg, a woman who has travelled all over the world in her long and illustrious career, the hotel is her home away from home. It is this fondness for Claridge's which has inspired her to have a go at designing the interiors of its rooms. She commented, ‘I am honoured to become part of the hotel's legacy and rich design history.'
We can't wait to see what she comes up with!
