Primark gets set for five-store Spanish expansion
IT’S BEEN A huge phenomenon in England, and now the ‘Primark effect’ is set to hit the Spanish shopper with the expansion of five brand-spanking new stores.
The move comes after a successful year-long trial of a Madrid store, which saw sales sky-rocket in its relatively short existence to 81% above its targets.
Consumers are reportedly going cheap-chic crazy, and analysts have revealed there’s a huge market for the retailer in Spain, which is surely the next step on its way to global domination.
Let’s just hope the Spanish are a little more restrained when it comes to shop launches – nobody wants to see a repeat of the riots caused by the flagship store opening on Oxford Street.
