Vince Acors taken back to jail moments before flying home for Christmas

The British man convicted of having sex on a Dubai beach earlier this year has been re-arrested just moments before flying home for Christmas.

Vince Acors and Michelle Palmer were arrested on Jumeirah Beach in Dubai back in July, after meeting at a Champagne brunch at the beach's well known hotel, and later found guilty of having unmarried sex and public indecency – charges they both denied.

Given Dubai's high moral standards, both parties feared lengthy jail sentences, however, in the end, they received suspended three-month prison terms and fines of just £170 each.

It seems though, that all is not as black and white as it appears, with Acors detained at Dubai Airport as he tried to fly home on Friday.

His lawyer yesterday told the BBC: 'The return of Vince Acors has been delayed yet again and he will not be returning to the UK tomorrow.

'The situation is close to becoming farcical and Vince is severely disappointed.

'After having booked and confirmed his return flight on three separate occasions through the course of the day Vince was re-arrested at Dubai Airport, as his flight confirmation was allegedly not in order.

'He has been returned to jail, his precise return is now unknown.'
