While our inner cynic is holding back a cringe, the idea behind the service is pretty badass.
Founders Naomi Hirabayashi and Marah Lidey told Mashable: 'While social media helps us connect with others, it often only show the "highlight reel" of our friends or celebs, which ass to the pressure.'
Even hashtags like 'Motivation Monday' encourage us to compete with each other, a problem Naomi and Marah want to dispel.
Texts are sent at 8:30am – based on the user's timezone – and aim to be relatable, encouraging and friendly. Kind of like a friend giving you a pat on the back and a big grin before you leave the house for work.
'There are articles, books and pricey career of life coaching, but nothing that is bite-sized and approaches you like a friend would.' explains Marah. 'Shine is for millennials who are thinking about their work and life decisions 24/7 and have highs and lows throughout the week.'
But it's not all about the power stance (and the odd Beyonce GIF), Shine wants to address mental and bodily health. Each day comes with a different theme and included a link to an article relating to the topic encouraging users to be more confident and productive in their daily lives.
