Kate Middleton’s name is currently at the centre of controversy after Romanian news site Gandul shared posters with the slogan: ‘Half of our women look like Kate. The other half, like her sister.’

The advert forms part of a campaign created in the backlash of talks in Britain over the high number of Romanian migrants coming to the UK. The Government have reportedly been considering a negative publicity campaign aimed at dissuading Romanians from coming into the country once labour market restrictions are lifted later this year. A separate advert mocks the British love of immigrating to France, carrying the words: ‘We speak better English than anywhere you’ve been to in France.’

The poster campaign continued to mock Britain dismissing it as a place with ‘bad weather, no jobs and no houses.’
They even joked about our transport system’s inability to cope when it snows, as another ad read: ‘Our air traffic controllers have seen snow before and they were unimpressed.’

Gandul’s ad campaign creative director, Mihai Gongu, justified the posters, telling The Independent that people will learn that Romanians are ‘nice friendly and welcoming, and not "all beggars and thieves."'
