Cheryl Cole set to lose out on number one spot this week to Joe McElderry
X Factor starlet Cheryl Cole looks set to lose out on the number one spot this week, to her protégé, Joe McElderry.
The Girls Aloud glamazon’s latest track 3 words – recorded with Will.I.AM of the Black Eyed Peas – will go up against Joe’s winner’s single, a cover of the Miley Cyrus hit The Climb.
Despite the famous Mrs Cole’s first single success, the star’s latest solo effort sold just 8,808 copies on Monday.
And chart experts predict that if the rest of the week follows this trend, Cheryl could only make it to number eight at the weekend.
Meanwhile, it seems her winning act might finally be headed for the top spot.
Lovely Geordie Joe had a battle on his hands last week, after a Facebook campaign sent American band Rage Against the Machine to number one.
But this week the tides have turned, and on Monday little Joe sold a whopping 77,329, while Rage Against the Machine shifted just 39,030.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t bode well for Mrs Cole. With those figures to live up to, she doesn’t really stand a chance!
