New York Fashion Week’s Best Beauty Hot Spots
There’s more to do in New York than just shop and sightsee; there’s plenty of pampering to be had too.

New York, by far is one of my favourite places in the world to visit. I can’t get enough of the Broadway shows, the shopping, the eating and all of the amazing sightseeing places in between from walking the Skyline, to going to the Top of the Rockefeller or the Empire State Building. But, let’s not forget the New York beauty destinations.
New Yorker’s are known for being in a hurry so the best beauty treatments are those that you can fit into a lunch break. Here’s our top five places to visit while you’re there.
Skin Laundry This is about the speediest light therapy you’ll find in Manhattan. In 20-minutes your skin is cleansed and given a dose of Nd:yag laser and IPL. Together they deeply clear-out pores, smooth skin and stimulate collagen and elastin production. On my visit my therapist told me that if you’re suffering with acne you’ll want to go every other day for a while to allow the light to eliminate acne-causing bacteria, otherwise a treatment once of twice a week will keep skin clear, plump and luminous. A single treatment is $50. The products are worth a look too; there’s an excellent 0.2% Retinol and moisturiser with a broad spectrum SPF that are worth investing in. Pretty please Skin Laundry, please come to the UK.
Ten Over Ten If there’s one thing New Yorkers are known for it’s looking insanely groomed and shabby, half bit nails just won’t do. Visit Ten Over Ten for a signature manicure ($25) which includes a shape, cuticle work a massage and a paint job. Or go all out with the Luxe treatment ($40) which includes a hot stone massage. Your hands will thank you.
Nexxus Ready yourself for some serious interiors envy; the hair salon Nexxus in Tribeca is a heaven made of marble, wooden floors and copper. The. Dream. The treatments are pretty ace too. Book in for your cut and colour and while you’re there try the Nexxus Emergencée treatments consisting of a shampoo and reconstructing treatment which strengthens tired and chemically treatment hair. The Emergencée mask that rounds everything off adds life back into your hair. It’s a favourite.
Paint Box Located on Crosby Street in New York’s vibrant Soho, Paint Box is the place to visit if you’re looking for hand-painted nail art. They’ll provide a handy menu to inspire you. Our favourites are: Strike It Rich, a chic nude with gold stripe, and What A Stud, a Barbie pink nail with silver stud – it’s very Clueless.

Dry Bar Speedy blow dry bars are a relatively new thing in the UK, the exception being Hersheson’s who got in on the action a while back. New York’s Dry Bar started the trend; there’s a menu of quick blow-dries including the smooth The Manhattan and The Cosmo with it’s big curls. With locations doted around the island, Manhattanite’s pop in for an early morning ‘blow out’ before work – we suggest you drop in for a tune-up before heading out to dinner.
