Want the key to success? Well, we've spoken to one woman who has a pretty good idea of what it takes to get to the top...

Meet Isabelle Minneci, L’Oréal's UK & Ireland HR director. Here are her five top tips for success...

    Isabelle Minneci

    1. Be yourself

There’s no reason not to be yourself – the personal qualities you have are essential for bringing diversity to teamwork and making things happen! Remember that we each have different perspectives, so don’t be afraid to show who you really are and say what you really think. 2. Be confident

Self-confidence is essential, not only so you can be at the table, but also take part in the big decisions. Don’t hesitate to be daring. Developing self-confidence is an issue that women often face more than men. 3. Cultivate your network

Your network is key to helping you progress in your career, but we often don’t take enough time to create and cultivate one. Don’t forget that networking isn’t just external to your organisation, it’s internal as well. Finding people who will support and champion you inside the workplace is just as important.

    4. Embrace flexibility

Women tend to juggle so many different things that work-life integration is a must. At L'Oréal, we favour flexibility. We’re launching an agile working policy so that everyone can find the right balance between their professional and personal responsibilities. 5. Don’t try to be perfect

Recognise that you can’t get everything 100 per cent right all of the time. Choose your priorities, make sure you strike the right balance for you, and enjoy everything you do. This is how you will feel energised and make things work.

Are you living life at 10 out of 10? Probably not, but here's how you can...
