These three dresses will help me survive the heatwave

Yes, the rumours were true, we are currently in the midst of a heatwave, and with it comes that tricky question of how to dress in 30 degree heat.

There is only one answer for me: a summer dress. If it ain't broke, don't fix it they say, and they are right.

So this week I'll be investing in three gorgeous styles I've had my eye on for a while, and here's why I'm buying them.

First off, we have the Faithfull the Brand dress. If anyone can do heatwave fashion, it's the Aussies, and Faithfull does it pretty damn well. You'll have seen the Insta-worthy dresses draped across your favourite influencers. I've already got a couple of midi dresses from the brand, but as it's mega hot this week (have I mentioned this already?), I'll be wearing this short number.

Before shopping the perfect summer dresses below, don't forget to browse our vouchers site for the latest discounts on your order. Think Mythersea discounts, Net-A-Porter vouchers and more.

It's no secret I love a slip dress, so my second buy of the week is this sleek Bernadette Antwerp gown. I'll admit it's not cheap, however the quality is second to none, and having tried it, I can tell you it's basically as close to wearing nothing (and being decent) as you'll get. Well worth it.

Lastly, a little high street number for you. Linen is a great fabric to wear in the heatwave as it's so light, and this & Other Stories dress is your ultimate flattering LBD. Lovely for a night out or al fresco dining.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
