  • From Lupita Nyong'o to Claire Danes, the 2016 Tony Awards were a star-studded and stylish affair.

From Lupita Nyong’o to Claire Danes, all of our favourite actresses hit the red carpet last night to celebrate the 2016 Tony Awards and Broadway?s most theatrical characters. Musical Hamilton swept the board with no fewer than eight gongs and there were some stunning, emotional and hilarious performances. But who won in the style stakes?

Well Cate Blanchett was up there for sure, choosing a panelled Louis Vuitton dress assembled from edgy spliced monochrome fabrics. Girls star Allison Williams donned an all-white power suit, Jourdan Dunn was princess-like in Zac Posen and Claire Danes worked a navy silk slip dress by Narciso Rodriguez.

Rose Byrne and Joan Smalls each made a case for the structured V neck, wearing a custom Thakoon creation and AW16 Altuzurra respectively. Michelle Williams and Saoirse Ronan both opted for white and nude column gowns, by Louis Vuitton and Stella McCartney respectively.

The most summery and joyous by far, however, had to be Lupita Nyong’o. Her off-shoulder Boss number was hand embroidered with scatterings of colourful sequins, arranged in a way that made them like ditsy florals. Boss designer Jason Wu hailed Lupita to be his fashion ?muse? and why wouldn?t he ? she?s not put a foot out of place, sartorially speaking, since she burst onto the red carpet scene back in 2013.
