Aintree Races 2014 kicked off with a colourful bang this year as horse fans flocked to Liverpool for all the equestrian action.

Ladies Day at The Aintree Races - the second of the weekend's events - was awash with florals, as the stylish women of Liverpool donned their pattern-heavy finery for a day at the races. Hats were the talk of the day as 3D blooms appeared to be the favoured headpiece for this year. (But do make sure you check the unorthodox biscuit hat that we might all be trying for 2015.)

Meanwhile, the first official day attracted royals and celebrities stepping out in their finest sartorial wears for the annual meet. Coleen Rooney caught our eye in a super-bright pink combo with heels and a Victoria Beckham clutch to match. Princess Anne also made an appearance at the famous course up North - but this is just the beginning.

As far as street style goes, expect to see some fabulous, flamboyant, and downright bizarre frocks on show, teamed with skyscraper heels and, of course, the obligatory hat among the celebrity race-goers to come.
