Instagram is now the style mecca for millions looking for up to the minute fashion inspiration.

The term ‘bloggers’ is being phased out as the keyboard powerhouses rebrand themselves as industry influencers, suggesting that this grassroots movement of fashionistas is far from over.

While we used to wait patiently for the show reports to be collated by journalists in our favourite magazines and newspapers, the digital age has without a doubt made fashion more accessible and it seems no sooner has a look made it down the runway, it is sashaying into stores.

Instagram is a great resource when looking for style ideas and within the plus size fashion arena it has been instrumental in allowing plus size women to see the brand offerings on body types that are more reflective of the consumer base. While plus size models start from a size 12-14 in the fashion industry, plus size brands are stocking product up to a size 32 and beyond and it is often hard for consumers to relate to the model they’re seeing on screen. Instagram has allowed for an explosion of plus size women to show their contemporaries just how the pieces on offer look and, more importantly, how to style them.
