Meghan Markle's maternity leave is officially ending next week, according to royal reporters, when she will launch her clothing line with charity SmartWorks.

The Sun's reporter Emily Andrews wrote on Twitter, 'Duchess Meghan will launch her new clothes line, in collaboration with Jigsaw, John Lewis and Partners, Marks and Spencer & pal Misha Nonoo, next Thursday 12 Sept to support her patronage SmartWorks. Very excited to see what she’s picked for her capsule working wardrobe!'

She added that the Duchess of Sussex would make a speech, before meeting brand representatives and participating in a panel discussion.

'Meghan will make a short speech before watching a panel discussion with SmartWorks reps, two of its clients & Patron. She’ll then meet Smart Works and brand representatives who will talk through the SW journey every client undergoes – including wardrobe and interview,' she wrote.

Meghan announced the collaboration in her editor's letter in Vogue's September issue, writing, 'When you walk into a Smart Works space you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes. Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.'

She continued, 'To help with this, I asked Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw and my friend, the designer Misha Nonoo, if they were willing to design a capsule collection of more classic options for a workwear wardrobe.'

For each item purchased, one will be donated to the charity.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
