The fashion crowd has spoken, 80s clothing is back. Here's how to shop the trend...

80s clothing is loud, it's shiny and it's super-statement. And now, it's one of the hottest trends around for AW15.

Yes we're going back in time this season and embracing all that's cool about the 80s era, and it's not as terrifying as you'd think. Out are those peaked shoulder jackets and eye-popping shell suits and in, are metallics, knife pleats, chunky belts, perspex jewellery and a whole lot of clashing colours.

On the catwalks, the vibe was more, is more, as we saw the likes of Balmain, J W Anderson and Christopher Kane embrace all things 80s.

Meanwhile, on the high street, it's a slightly different story. The trend looks sightly more wearable, and feels like something we could actually work into our new season party wardrobe. The modern way to wear the trend? Pick your statement piece, and keep the rest of your look simple.

Look to pleated midi skirts in high-shine fabrics (Zara) and pair with crew neck knits and ankle boots. Go for a standout leather oversized coat (Topshop) and team with a grey midi dress and flats. And for your party option, go for anything velvet and you're onto a winner.
