The Talk of the Night Plus One Award goes to George Clooney’s shiny new wife, Amal who made her Golden Globes debut in a midnight black gown by Dior. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Phoehler joked about Mrs Clooney’s achievements at the start of the ceremony. "George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year," said Fey. "Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an adviser to Kofi An regarding Syria and was selected for a three-person UN commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza strip. So tonight her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award."
The ‘Alternative’ Plus One Forget celebrating talent, for us the main thing worth raising a glass to was the masterpiece that was Jamie Dornan’s beard. One equally obsessed viewer tweeted ‘I'm actually convinced that Jamie Dornan's beard is the supreme ruler of all beards and every other beard must pay tribute to it.’ His real plus one was wife Amelia Warner, but we were so fixated on the beard, we didn’t take much notice of that. Sorry Amelia. How very unsisterly of us.
