Wait, WHAT?

Meghan Markle, now Duchess of Sussex, is undoubtedly one of the most talked about people in the world, something that has both its advantages and disadvantages.

Sure, she has the power to turn independent brands into world-renowned labels by just wearing their clothes (the Meghan Markle effect), and she gets to live in a castle and travel the globe meeting world leaders.

But she also makes viral news for anything involving her life, with the whole world talking about her this week for the wrong reasons.

That’s right. It wasn’t her future baby or her feminist speeches that got the world talking this weekend. Instead, it was the departure of her bodyguard, who resigned after just six months of service.

It was reported per The Daily Mail that the female chief protection officer had resigned from Scotland Yard, just six months into her job.

Why? Her reasons are reportedly down to Meghan’s want ‘to be seen as “one of the people”’, heightening security risks.

This comes after the news that Meghan’s personal assistant quit unexpectedly in November, leading the internet to question if there’s a pattern.

‘Unlike someone who has grown up in the Royal Family and has been used to having close protection from an early age, it can be constraining,’ a source explained. ‘Even though [Meghan] was a famous actress, she could still do what she wanted in the way of getting around freely. But in her current role she can’t go anywhere without her protection team, and that’s a massive constraining force on an individual like her.’

What’s going on? We’ll have to wait and see.
