Everyone’s talking about Ivanka Trump’s frosty mother’s day message

What does it all mean?

What does it all mean?

This weekend saw the US celebrate Mother’s Day, with A-listers paving the way for us all, taking to social media to share tributes to their mothers with their fandoms.

From Reese Witherspoon and Rihanna to the Kardashians and the Hadid sisters, posting heartfelt messages was all the rage.

Someone who tried to get involved was Ivanka Trump, but similarly to when she tried to join the Time’s Up movement, it didn’t really work. And like most of Ivanka Trump’s choices, it massively split opinion.

In fact, the public on the whole found her message very frosty - and naturally, they weren’t afraid to point it out, with Ivanka trending on Twitter.

While Rihanna credited her mother’s strength and Khloe Kardashian praised Kris’ unconditional love and loyalty, Ivanka chose a different route, crediting her mother’s aptitude for skiing.

Yes, really.

‘Happy Mother’s Day to my amazing mother and the best skier I know!’ she posted alongside a vintage shot of her mother in ski apparel.

It’s safe to say a lot of the internet wasn’t impressed, hoping for something more sentimental from the First Daughter, and coming out to question the post.

‘How nice,’ commented one user. ‘But I’m sure she has some pretty amazing attributes as a mother than just being the best skier. You are who you are because of her. She deserves more honour.’

Others however praised Ivanka for not just recognising Ivana’s maternal skills, but her own accomplishments too.

We’ll let you decide which camp you’re on, but after the outcry we’re sure Ivanka will think very carefully before posting a Mother’s Day tribute next year.
