Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne announce the name of their baby son

They're bringing back an 80s classic

Last Saturday Cheryl Cole announced the birth of her son with her boyfriend, One Direction star Liam Payne.

'On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy. Although he still doesn't have a name he is already stealing hearts' she wrote on Instagram next to a picture of Payne cuddling their son.

But the couple have now settled on the name of their new arrival, and this morning Payne revealed it to his 24 million Twitter followers.

'We're pleased to announce the name of our little boy, Wayne "Window" Payne [heart emoji] thank you again for all your lovely, supportive messages' Liam wrote in a tweet posted this morning.

There had been some speculation over the couple's choice of name since the birth of the baby was announced, with Liam and Cheryl rumoured to be considering both Taylor and the newly popular Alfie as options.

Though Wayne has gone out of fashion as a baby name in recent years, there's now likely to be a 'celebrity effect' boom of couples following suit.

And also, April fool.
