The 'romantic comedy' will see Woody falling in love with a fellow cast member

Toy Story fans, we’ve got good news for you: there will definitely be a Toy Story 4, with a most intriguing storyline.

But it will be a long wait, after Tom Hanks announced that the release date will be in June 2018 - practically to infinity and beyond.

Speaking to Graham Norton, Tom revealed some secrets of the upcoming movie... such as the fact that the movie is being recorded right now, and that each session lasts four to five hours.

We can't wait till 2018 now - take a look at Tom spilling the beans below...

In October, director John Lasseter, who was also at the helm of the first two films, has hinted that the plot will focus on a romance between Woody and Bo Peep. How are we supposed to wait a whole three years to find out more?

‘We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,’ said Lasseter. ‘We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie.

‘But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it,’ he added. ‘It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie - and I wanted to direct it myself.’

The $2 billion Toy Story franchise began in 1995, with two follow-up films stealing the hearts of children and adults alike, in 1999 and 2010.

And it’s not just Toy Story who have a great sequel in the pipeline - there are plenty of other follow-up films set to hit our screens in the next few years, including Cars 3, in June 2017, The Incredibles 2, in June 2019, and Ant-Man 2, in July 2018.

There are also some new offerings on the horizon, with Disney and Pixar announcing the releases of Captain Marvel, in March 2019, Coco, in November 2017 and Gigantic, in March 2018.

For now, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any more news on this Woody/Bo Peep romance. The studio has described the fourth film as a ‘romantic comedy’, with not as much interaction between the toys and the humans. We are well and truly intrigued… Bring on 2018.

In the meantime, let's revisit a little something called Spanish Buzz...
