Soaps stars pull on their gladrags for the National Television Awards
BRITAIN’S SOAP STARS dazzled last night at ‘telly Oscars’ The National Television Awards.
Ant and Dec were the big winners, scooping three awards, despite their recent phone-in scandal, which could see ITV hit with an £18 million bill. They were named Most Popular Entertainment Presenters, Saturday Night Takeaway was Most Popular Entertainment Programme and I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! won Top Reality Programme.
It was also a great night for Dr Who and EastEnders. David Tennant was named Best Actor with the show winning Most Popular Drama, while Lacey Turner picked up Best Actress and the soap won Best Serial Drama for the third year running.
And, of course, Simon Cowell was delighted to accept the gong for the X Factor winning Most Popular Talent Show which also prompted Sharon Osbourne to leap from her seat in delight.
