Lea Michele was born in the Bronx, New York, on August 26, 1986. She was originally Lea Sarfati but after years of being bullied for her unusual surname she changed it to Michele. The actress and singer began her career at just nine years old when she began starring on Broadway but became a household name in 2009 when she landed the role of Rachel Barry in the hit TV show Glee.
