Ever been in a high-rise block in London and thought, “You know what would make this better? A pool between these buildings?”

If so, it’s your lucky day as new plans have been announced to build just that – a glassbottomed pool suspended 115 in the air between two luxury blocks of flats in Battersea.

The world’s first ‘Sky Pool’ will connect two of the three structures that will make up the Embassy Gardens Legacy Buildings, part of the Nine Elms regeneration of the South Bank in SW8.

The 82ft long pool will be made of eight-inch-thick glass, allowing swimmers an unprecedented view of London as they practice their front crawl.

Is it just us or does eight inches not sound like a hell of a lot of glass between you and a 10 story drop?

Building starts this summer, with first completions due in 2017 but be warned – this is London at it’s most luxurious.

Currently prices for a two bed flat in the yet to be completed building are ‘available on application’ but to give you an idea, a brand new two-bed flat in another part of Nine Elms costs a tidy £735,000.

We’ll settle with the local lido, thanks all the same.
