Emily Blunt's SAG Awards dress is getting ridiculed and it's not cool

Emily Blunt won a SAG Award last night, and thanked her husband and director John Krasinski in the most beautiful way. But none of that matters apparently, because - stop press - she wore a dress that looks like a vagina.

The, let's reiterate the point here, award-winning actress walked the red carpet in a baby pink custom Michael Kors sequin dress. It featured a giant ruffle around the shoulders, which reminded a lot of people on Twitter of a labia.

Cue Twitter memes galore, as you can see below.

Now I don't mind a bit of banter, I really don't. However, given the mammoth battle against sexist reporting, with actresses wanting to be asked a little more than who they're wearing (#askhermore), and of course the more recent #metoo movement, it just doesn't seem right to me that poor Emily Blunt be reduced to a walking vagina.

God forbid she be remembered instead for the award she won. Or the heartwarming love she showed for her husband and her daughters.

And don't get me started on the fact she was ranked amongst the worst-dressed actresses on the night (funny we don't rank their male counterparts here).

Whether an outfit is to your taste or not is bloody irrelevant.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
