Everybody remembers where they were last night when Netflix went down for one hour. Well, at least, the internet remembers. Yesterday evening, users all over the world found themselves unable to stream their favourite TV show and social media went into full meltdown mode.

The problem struck at around 10/11pm last night, prime time for the post-work crowd to put their feet up and stick a Netflix show on. However those keen to watch Queer Eye or The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt were faced with an error message that read, ‘Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later.’

As tends to be the case with situations like this, people flocked to Twitter to freak out and harass Netflix until the problem was sorted. Netflix Down quickly became the phrase of the hour as #netflixdown began trending, alerting more and more people to the problem.

The service eventually issued a Twitter statement which read, ‘We are aware of members having trouble streaming on all devices. We are investigating the issue and appreciate your patience.’

Keep calm and carry on was not the mantra of the evening, as people began to spiral on Twitter.

However after roughly an hour, Netflix fixed the problem and let everybody know they could go back to binging to their heart’s content.

People stopped talking to one another, queued up a season of Friends and watched Joey Tribbiani until their eyes blurred and they fell asleep.

And the world was at peace again.
