Each year the bold, the beautiful and the down-right bonkers travel to Cannes in France to celebrate the town s annual Film Festival, bringing with them some of the most glamorous looks ever to grace the red carpet. And this year, there was no exception.

As per usual, soft, natural make-up stole the show with Barabra Palving and Chanel Iman both emphasising their bambi-like eyes with full on lashes. Sonam Kapoor also worked soft colours, creating a pink tonal masterpiece by matching her eyeshadow to her lipstick and blusher a look Riley Keough had favoured just the day before.

But, not everything was soft. Both Marion Cotillard and Lily Donaldson rocked an ox-blood red lip with a low ponytail, adding a touch of rouge noir glamour to the red carpet and Aishwarya Rai got our vote for most daring beauty looks on the red carpet with both her grey-blue lip and electric blue cat eye flick.

Also to take centre stage, was hair, with celebrities opting for either soft, feminine styles or sleek femme fatale dos.

Blake Lively channelled Cinderella with a messy yet chic bun - complete with headband at front and flower accessory at the back - while Karlie Kloss, who famously said my presence is my present literally tied herself up as a gift with a cute black bow accenting her voluminous 60s do.

Waves made, well waves, with Kristen Stewart unleashing her inner 90s surfer girl with a tightly waved crop, Vanessa Paradis sporting a boho-chic style and Poppy Delevingne opting for old school glam, with the glossiest waves we have ever seen (honestly, how did she get it so shiny?).

Slicked back hair made several appearances too, with Kendall Jenner and Natasha Poly brushing their long hair back off their faces and Bella Hadid and Adriana Lima tying theirs up into sleek ponytails.
