From red carpet to on stage style...

The American Music Awards 2016 took place in Los Angeles and saw some of the biggest names in the music business take to the red carpet. From the best dressed to the electrifying performances’, we’ve rounded up all the best moments from the evening.

It’s one of the biggest nights of the year on the music scene, with the likes of Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and John Legend stepping out to celebrate the best music of the year so far.

The hosts of the awards this year were the dynamic duo: comedian Jay Pharoah and supermodel Gigi Hadid. And, they certainly got the crowd talking. Gigi took to the red carpet in a stunning white Roberto Cavalli gown and she later changed into several outfits including a red evening gown slashed at the waist and an embellished crop top suit.

Some of the most notable red carpet moments include Chrissy Teigen’s nearly naked dress by Yousef Akbar, Hailee Steinfeld in metallic Elie Saab, Selena Gomez in a stunning gown and Ciara’s pregnancy style with a monochromatic Stephane Rolland gown.

Behati Prinsloo debuted her post-baby body with her first red carpet appearance just two months after welcoming daughter Dusty Rose.

As for the awards; Ariana Grande picked up the highly coveted Artist of the Year award, while Zayn Malik won Best New Artist of the Year. Prince’s Purple Rain won an award for the Best Soundtrack and the late star’s sister accepted the trophy and delivered a heartfelt speech.

Finally, Bruno Mars kicked things off with a rousing performance of 24K Magic which certainly got the crowd going while Niall Horan, the second One Directioner to take the solo path performed his first solo single, This Town. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj kept everyone dancing and Lady Gaga delivered an emotional performance of Million Reasons.
