Sienna Miller set for new Robin Hood role
Sienna Miller has revealed she is lined up to play Maid Marian alongside Russell Crowe’s Sheriff of Nottingham in a new revisionist version of Robin Hood.
The star confirmed the news to the BBC, saying: ‘It’s happening. I just found out. It’s the most exciting news in the world.’
She added: ‘It’s ridiculous. But there’s this looming actor’s strike, so it’s not 100% sure that it’s going to be made, but it’s looking pretty certain.’
The new movie version will turn the original tale on its head, portraying the usually-evil Sheriff as a heroic figure, and Robin – who is traditionally known for stealing from the rich to give to the poor – as villainous.
The film will see Crowe reunited with his Gladiator director Sir Ridley Scott, but casting for the title role of Robin is yet to be decided.
Acclaimed writer Brian Helgeland – who picked up an Oscar in 1997 for LA Confidential – is also on board.
Miller, who is currently promoting her new film The Edge of Love, said she ‘could not have a better part’ and working with Crowe and Ridley was ‘as good as it gets’.
