We caught up to talk inspiration and her own experiences of mentoring.

What fired your ambition to start your own business? One client gave me the confidence to go it alone about 10 years ago. PR is essentially a sales job so you have to believe in the people you are working with. I decided to hand-pick my clients so my business had integrity.

What’s the best careers advice that you’ve been given? Grow your business slowly and at your own pace. I’ve had two children since I started out. Businesses that grow too quickly often fail.

As a mentor, what’s your tip for aspiring publicists? Research all the companies out there and work out why you like them. Email asking for work experience as it’s the best way to learn and there may be a full-time job at the end of it. Two of my full-time employees started out as interns.
