Stylish maternity swimwear (no matter how pregnant you are)

Because you need to own those holiday selfies.

Because you need to own those holiday selfies.

Forget any preconceptions you have about pregnancy style on the beach. First off, you don't have to cover up in a sack-shaped sarong just because you have a bump (but by all means, do lather on the SPF). Secondly, and this might come as a bit of a shock but, *whispers it* you can actually wear bikinis too.

That's right, if you've got it, flaunt it, is our motto, and there are plenty of stylish bikinis to suit every stage of your pregnancy. We love Nine In The Mirror's elegant one-shoulder powder pink bikini set, or Cache Coeur's fun heart print design.

However, if swimsuits are more up your street, there are plenty of those too. From the classic black halterneck (try the Séraphine and Marks & Spencer designs) to striped nautical designs (we love the Yummy Mummy one), there are shapes and prints to suit every personality.

More importantly, hopefully you're shopping for new swimwear because you're going on an exotic holiday, and if you can't make a statement on the beach, where can you? With this in mind, try loud prints and bold colours, especially as they look SO much better on a tan.

Penny Goldstone

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
