In the second of our #RunwaytoReality series this season, we’re going retro and recreating the 60s-inspired chic long bob with a flicked out bottom that we spied backstage at Sophia Webster.

Created by TIGI European Session Director Maria Kovacs, this was one of a variety of styles that all took their nod from the era (take note: individuality in beauty has been all over the catwalks this season, with hair and make-up both taking their cues from the models’ own natural appearance).

‘This is so easy to create and doesn’t look dated in the slightest,’ said Kovacs of the style. Pair it with a beret to work the Jean Shrimpton look or leave it glossy and slick for a Jackie O vibe.

Get the look in 4 steps:

1) Start by spraying the hair evenly with a product to help make the hair pliable and add volume. We used Catwalk by Tigi Bodifying Spray.

2) To stay faithful to the 60s aesthetic, you’ll need a low side parting. The best way to do this is to brush hair forward with a round brush, parting it with the barrel of the brush before separating it with your fingers.

3) Blow dry your hair in small sections starting at the front and working your way round. You want to hold the barrel of the brush on top of the section of hair, blow drying from underneath when you get to the bottom to achieve the flick. If your hair is especially unruly, is curly or doesn’t hold a style well, blow dry it from damp, taking care to let each section cool around the brush before moving onto the next bit.

4) Finally, spray with hairspray all over, making sure to coat the ends from underneath to set the flick in place.
