Kate and William move into Kensington Palace

The royal newlyweds move have moved into a 'modest' flat in Kensington Palace

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have moved into their first royal residence as a married couple, a ‘modest’ apartment in Kensington Palace.

The newlyweds will take up residency at a cosy apartment in the Palace’s grounds, although royal aides have stressed the move is only temporary as the apartment is deemed too small to raise a family or for long term use.

William once lived at Kensington Palace with his late mother, Diana.

Catherine and William, both 29, will keep their rented farmhouse on the Welsh island of Anglesey as their main home, away from the glare of the media.

The Prince is expected to remain at the RAF Valley base on Anglesey for another two years.
