Sienna and Savannah Miller's Twenty8Twelve collection is hit of London Fashion Week
Sienna Miller kept us guessing right up to the last moment, would she or wouldn’t she get back from LA’s pre-Oscar parties, where she was spotted on Saturday night, in time for the Twenty8Twelve London Fashion Week catwalk show, or would she stand sister Savannah up on the runway?
Well, it appears blood is thicker than even Hollywood water, because there she was taking in the standing ovation at the end of the show, hand in hand with her designer sis, and grinning bashfully from ear to ear.
The genetically blessed twosome certainly had plenty to smile about. With the whooping and clapping starting even before the first model had hit the runway, this was the most electrically charged catwalk show London’s seen in some time.
The clothes too were exactly what we’ve come to expect from Twenty8Twelve: expertly cut, exquisitely styled denim, jackets, minidresses and tees, all of which are guaranteed to sell like hotcakes the minute they land in store next autumn.
It was a big weekend for the high-end high street, with Jaeger showing earlier in the day and Topshop Unique the day before, with both brands offering very different visions of what autumn/winter 09 will look like.
For Topshop Unique, for the second season running, there’s a large Eighties influence, with neon brights, high-heeled hiking boots and shellsuit fabricing all key trends.
Jaeger, which brought out the biggest celebrity contingent of the night with everyone from Alexa Chung to Chris Eubank sitting on the front row, looks altogether more grown-up, and all the more covetable for it, with the beautiful laser-cut dresses, zip-up skinny-leg trousers and fabulous cone-heeled ankle boots top of our wish list.
In these credit-crunch times, to see the British high street performing at the top of its game, means not only can all look forward to a very stylish new season, but an affordable one as well.
