Kilimanjaro stars raise £1 million for Comic Relief
Despite news that her husband’s got himself into trouble yet again, Cheryl Cole was all smiles yesterday, as she learnt her team had raised a massive £1 million for Comic Relief.
The band of celebrities scaling Mount Kilimanjaro, which comprises of Cole’s band mate Kimberley Walsh, Gary Barlow, Alesha Dixon, Fearne Cotton, Denise Van Outen, Chris Moyles and Ben Shepherd, were thrilled to learn of the astounding sum, as they reached day five of their charity climb.
Barlow commented, ‘We’re all near to reaching mental and physical exhaustion up here so to know that everyone is behind us and giving whatever they can is just so humbling.
‘Knowing that we’ve raised this fantastic amount of money in cash-strapped times is the push we need to get us to that summit!’ he added.
The news came at the perfect time for the weary team.
Cole had started her day with an anti-sickness injection, after feeling ill in the night, while Cotton has struggled with altitude sickness.
