Check out our pick of the best beach resorts in Turkey and cool off-the-tourist-trail things to do while you're there…
The summer of 2018 is set to see a rise of sunseekers flocking to Turkey's fantastic coastline, and it's easy to see the appeal. Instagrammable beach resorts, hidden grottoes, ancient shopping bazaars and delicious food… need we say more?
From the traditional villages surrounding buzzy Bodrum to the pristine shores of family-friendly Antalya, and Dalaman mountainscapes, there are so many great areas to explore.
And it's great for lots of different holidaymakers, from solo travellers looking for adventure to groups of friends and families who want to spend lazy beach days under a parasol, dipping in and out of the water.
But where's the best to stay? We've rounded-up idyllic beachside getaway options offered by Jet2holidays to help you decide…
Olu Deniz, Dalaman
If you’re all about mind-blowing views, Olu Deniz is the place for you. Its mountain-backed blue lagoon, facing the national park, is one of those magical places that will stay with you forever. The water is so still and serene locals call it the 'Dead Sea'. Don't let that put you off – as far as swim spots go, they don't get much better than this, which it's why it’s one of the most Instagrammable hangouts in the Dalaman area. With its salty aquamarine hues and the scent of surrounding pine trees, lapping up the sunset here is a must.
Fancy something more adventurous? Why not paraglide from Mount Babadag to get a panoramic view of the stunning scenery of lagoons and mountains. Turkey is one of the best places to paraglide in the world, thanks to stable weather conditions, so paragliders from all over the world flock to the Olu Deniz Peninsula.
Alanya, Antalya
Looking for a luxe fly-and-flop beach holiday? Alanya has boomed in recent years and draws in a cool crowd of Dutch and Scandinavian sun-worshippers, as well as families. Daytimes are all about the beach, so take a dip in the clear waters of Cleopatra Beach or cool off under the magical waterfall of Sapadere Canyon.
When the sun falls, the picturesque harbour gets lively and it's brimming with restaurants that stay open late, serving food served straight off smoky grills alongside bejewelled rice dishes. Make sure you bag yourself an outdoor spot in one of the chic cocktail bars and then reap the benefits of their happy hours.
Got little ones in tow? Then you might want to hit up The Land Of Legends, an aqua park like no other that's guaranteed to keep the whole family entertained. With awesome child-friendly swimming pools (complete with wave machines) to a rollercoaster, water slides and much more, the kids will be begging to go back for more.
Bodrum and beyond
Bodrum has an abundance of amazing hotels and beautiful beaches making it great for family getaways. The harbour itself is well worth exploring, with its impressive 15th century castle, which now houses an award-winning museum of underwater archaeology. There are spas to revive you, incredibly tasty food and stunning rugs and cushions, so arrive with space in your bags. The beautiful rocky finger of the Bodrum Peninsula has long been a favourite with Turkey’s well-heeled elite.
If you have a car, head to the tiny mountain village of Etrim where shop owners will be happy to show off their colourful Turkish carpets and locally handwoven kilims. The village has fantastic restaurants, too, which serve irresistible Turkish brunches – so go first thing.
With great flight times to Bodrum, Antalya or Dalaman airports from 9 UK airports, a hefty 22kg baggage allowance and hotel transfers included, Turkey's Turquoise coast is just a booking away. Finding the right place to stay is easy with Jet2holidays, which offers a selection of hotels, including seafront locations, with a rep on hand to make sure your holiday is all you want it to be.
